I take a journey on a paternoster, an old style kind of elevator consisting of a sequence of continually shifting “cabinets” with open fronts. Passengers simply step on and off the revolving “cabinets” as they want. A dozen or so are nonetheless in use in Prague — fairly just a few, it seems, all through Europe. The one I rode in is within the Lucerna Pasaz in central Prague. In response to Wikipedia, 5 folks have died in paternosters since 1970.
